Blue Moon

Posted in Faith | 2 Comments

Last week, the moon was spectacular.
I have always been partial to the moon…the lesser light…God’s Word says.

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights – the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night.(Genesis 1:14-16)

The incredible full moon, we all saw last week, is known as the Blue Moon.

What Happens To Me While I Sleep?

Posted in Faith | 4 Comments

My oldest son has always been a thinker.
He has a wonderful way of looking at the world.

My husband was given a pocket watch as a groomsman for one of his brother’s wedding.
That pocket watch was something Kevin loved.
When it no longer worked, he would turn the hands and set the time himself.
It was right around the age that he was learning to tell time.

Let It Rain

Posted in Faith | 4 Comments

My husband buried his mother today.
The weather forecast called for thunder storms.
I sent a friend a text, while my husband drove this morning.
There should be a law…no rain on the day of a funeral!

The weather seemed to walk hand in hand with the mood.
We each had our umbrellas because as a son, my husband was a pallbearer.
It started to rain as we began our drive.
Dreary…but manageable.

Tents And Jars

We have all been around people that think they are wonderful.
They are the ones who talk about themselves the majority of the time.
They will always have a better story to tell and a bigger adventure than yours.
They are not pleasant to be around.

Ego is a tricky thing!
We have worth simply because we are made in His image.
All the Glory is His…we merely reflect Him to a dark world.

Sidelined

It was my first week of college.
I was a commuter student…living at home and working…while taking classes.
Fashion was a bit preppy.
Wide wale corduroy skirts, dean sweaters, loafers, leather belts with changeable buckles.

Of course, clogs were also worn with skirts.
I loved them and couldn’t wait to get my first pair.
I wore them to class that first week.
Walking was a little difficult because you needed to keep the clogs on your feet.

The Swing

There is a large walnut tree in our front yard.
When our youngest daughter was little, all she wanted was a tree swing!
This walnut tree was perfect.

The Invisible Army

We can get very weary when we read the headlines.
We can get discouraged when we watch the news.
It is so easy to focus on what is in front of us.
But we must remember how limited that perspective truly is.

Reservoir

Obviously, I love to write.
It is a joy to sit down and write this post each day.

I still like to write notes and letters the old fashioned way.
There is something so special about receiving a hand written note.
It takes time and effort and thought.
It is a personal way to show you care.

I have a writing folder on my computer.
It includes essays, vignettes, and poems that I have written.
My archives.

Tuning Forks

Posted in Faith | Leave a comment

If you had asked me what my favorite subject was when I was in school, I would have said Language Arts.
I loved reading books and writing stories. I still do!
Math and science were subjects I worked hard at in order to do well.
But they were never my favorite.

Occasionally, an experiment in science would intrigue me.
One such experiment has stayed with me all these years.
It involved tuning forks.

Only A Mother

Only a mother knows the tear, the silent one that falls,
Only a mother knows for sure, the reason for it all.

Only a mother knows the pain, and hand and hand, the joy.
Only a mother knows the kiss of her precious little boy.
